LIVE

Obviously, since Covid has had a catastrophic impact on the ‘live’ music industry, this was the main topic of conversation as there is no clear visibility as to the return of live gigs in the foreseeable future. The main points that were agreed by those in attendance were: advocacy in relation to guidelines for the live music sector, reinstatement of the full PUP Payment for those in the sector, a better VAT regime to be applied to ‘live’ events, sub-group meetings to cover the separate operational areas within the live scene, monthly networking meetings, the establishment of a services directory and collaboration with other industry groups in providing a unified voice for the sector. The attendees also mentioned that, as they are not currently working, they would have time available to get involved in AIM Ireland activities and that there was a need to highlight the importance of small venues around the country to the live music ecosystem and to the development and sustainability of Irish musicians.
