Music SERVICES

Representing PR, photographers, accountants, lawyers and anyone working in the music industry, (including artists who might be self releasing), our sector meeting reflected a desire for:-

- A code of best practice / ethics to be drawn up. One that we can all agree to adhere to as members of AIM Ireland. It was recognised that this list of rules and guidelines may need to be subcategorized for each industry. The main aim would be to provide a level of assurance to anyone hiring an AIM Ireland member. To also give less experienced members an insight into how to conduct their business ethically and professionally within their industry, and to ensure fair competition.

-Another pressing matter for the sector was a call for a reduction in VAT rates for services. As it stands, 21% is the rate, but some of the artists are not near the level of earnings to register for reclaiming VAT. Services are often overlooked when lobbying for reduced rates in other sectors, (hospitality, tourism etc. which has since been reduced to 9%).

-We hope to encourage AIM Ireland members to create a safe, productive and inclusive work environment. However, when this does not occur, we would like to be able to offer support and advice to our members on how to deal with harassment, bullying, discrimination, and other such sensitive issues.
